Primary and Secondary Audience Research

A primary audience are those that directly communicated, first hand. On the contrary, a secondary audience are indirectly communicated. The primary audience is often the decisive of the two audiences due to having more directness in communication whereas the secondary audience look to be identified to influence the primary audience.

Billboard Deconstruction

This is the billboard that I will deconstruct over colour, font, layout etc.

Page 1 and Page 2 Rationale

The double page spread  was very conventional in the effort to make the text and the images professional and of high quality. The decision of the main image is still to be debated due to the quality of the images and which one would be more influential in persuading the audience. A potential collage could be used as a substitute of a main image. I may use this, with the images overlapping to contrast with each other via lighting, which will have mixed connotations such as coolness and danger.
The colours I will use for the first and second pages of the magazine will be masculine themed colours such as shades of blue, black and grey, similar scales to other male fashion magazines. The colour scheme will have connotations of masculinity, hence the main target audience of the magazine are men. The use of these colours will appeal significantly to a male audience.
The images I will use will be a mid/afar shot, grasping the importance of the shot as well as incorporate the ambiance of the shot. The use of gathering a large audience within the shot is done to emphasise the power of the models and their influence of the music industry, which will be demonstrated in the article.
A combination of black and white will also be key throughout my double page spread. I feel this combination will be acceptable as although it can be cliché and original, it will be beneficial in the purpose of making the article clear to read.  I do also intend to use a range of different fonts to experiment with the pages and allow a variety to be displayed. Although the intended images of the pages will feature more than the models, the purpose of the shots will be immense in allowing a display of power of the models and how they are powerful around others. With no sub images and just a collection of equal images, I am hoping that the collage will be as or more effective than a main image as it equally displays the models and their impact in the environment surrounding them. Also, I intend to use a pull quote with a different font and size to the article to provide depth to the article design as well as enlarge important features of the article that will attract the audience even more.
Text usage will be structured mainly in a 1st/3rd person view of the model in the form of a story. Although most inspirations tend to use Q&A style articles, my own unique structure will still maintain boldness and quality.

Contents Page Rationale

The colours I will use for contents page will be colours such as shades of blue, black and grey, similar scales to other male fashion magazines. The colour scheme will have connotations of masculinity, hence the main target audience of the magazine are men. The use of these colours will appeal significantly to a male audience.
Images in the magazine will be of my own. Font of the contents page will be bold and stand out to be effective of the reader to see clearly. The contents' will be spaced out so there is enough viewing of the main image. The photos in the contents page will heavily focus on male fashion in cohesion with the main concept of the magazine. The models of the images will have an appealing and charismatic approach, in effort to persuade the reader to purchase the magazine. The contents page will differ from the colour scheme to my front cover, with more contrasting white then the greys. This will brighten up the page, and highlight more details, in comparison to the front cover.

A high calibre of vocabulary will be used to entice the reader and persuade the reader to realise the quality of the magazine. Moreover, there will be some information given on features inside the magazine that feature on the contents.

The contents page will differ from the colour scheme to my front cover, introducing a more vibrant and crisp scheme, with more contrasting white and blacks then the greys. This will brighten up the page, and highlight more details, contrasting to the front cover.

As for layout, I intend to exempt the masthead as it has already been established on the front cover. I feel this will provide another alternate and unique style to the page that provides my product uniqueness to differ from inspirations.

I feel that to sharpen the main image and include high quality, the use of a long shot of the cover model will be necessary. The stance of the model will be quite strong and confident, unlike the relaxed model on the front cover. I feel this body posture conflict will be great for the product showing that the product will be mixed and unpredictable. The main image will use the model with a striking appearance, using a prop to allow power, reflecting on her personality. The facial expression will smirked and suspicious, allowing mystery to be thrown into the reader's assumptions. The angle will simply by eye level. I also intend this image to feature in a grey background to introduce simplicity to the page. As well as the body language of the model, the fact she will be covering the whole page will again demonstrate her power and conquer of the product.

I intend to use only one font for the main text to allow consistency and simplicity to be incorporated. It is a strong and bold font, with heavy blocked lettering on the concise text to allow more attention. Also, it creates good contrast to the heading which is slightly feminine, aligning with the model. I also intend to have information like page numbers in the border to ensure that the reader is guided throughout their reading of the product.

Front Cover Rationale

As for colour, I will by sticking to the strict colour scheme below. It will feature with very restrictive use of the grey, which will highlight the important features of the cover. This grey colour will convey masculinity, appealing more to my more masculine audience. The colours I will use for my front cover of the magazine will be masculine themed colours such as shades of blue, black and grey, similar scales to other male fashion magazines. The colour scheme will have connotations of masculinity, hence the main target audience of the magazine are men. The use of these colours will appeal significantly to a male audience.Font of the front cover will be bold and stand out to be effective of the reader to see clearly what the front cover entails. The cover's layout will be spaced out so there is enough viewing of the main image yet also so that pull outs and essential information is also seen substantially.
The one image I intend to use here is an eye level close up of my model, directly addressing my audience. This will challenge my audience to read the magazine. The body language will be relaxed, showing confidence  within the model. I feel this will be accompanied by a natural and inviting facial expression which will hopefully engage my male audience in a sophisticated manner. Costume will simply be a casual outfit, reflecting on the model's personality. The shot type will by a medium close up, almost portrait styled. Lighting will also be low key to add to the mystique of the model and cover.Images in the magazine will be of my own. The photos in the magazine will heavily focus on male fashion in cohesion with the main concept of the magazine. The models of the images will have an appealing and charismatic approach, in effort to persuade the reader to purchase the magazine.

A high calibre of vocabulary will be used to entice the reader and persuade the reader to realise the quality of the magazine. Moreover, a use of teasers will be on the front cover so the reader will have to go in depth of the magazine and inevitably purchase it. Sub headings will also be included on the front cover to tease more of the magazine.

Flat Plans

This is the flat plan idea for my front cover of my fashion magazine. This will be used mainly as a template for the final product. Moreover, below are the flat plans for the contents page and double page spread for the magazine.
